POLICIES

 

INFANT SIBLINGS ARE FREE!

Infants eight months and under are free when attending with a registered sibling. Older siblings may visit once per semester, pre-arranged with the office. Any child attending class on a regular basis MUST be registered for class.

 

ENROLLMENT CONFIRMATIONS

Enrollment confirmations will be sent via email within 48 hours of our receiving your payment. If you do not receive and enrollment confirmation within 48 hours of submitting your registration online, please email us to confirm that we have received it: musictogethernyc@gmail.com Please note, if you have chosen to pay by check your confirmation will not be sent until we receive your check.

 

CLASS CANCELLATIONS

We reserve the right to cancel classes due to low enrollment. Every effort will be made to make these decisions as early as possible, however cancellations may take place up until the third week of classes. In this case, all registered families will be notified and given the option of another class.

 

TAKE HOME MATERIALS

Continued music-making at home is essential to your child's musical growth. To support this, we provide each family in our program with a beautifully illustrated songbook, CD, digital download of the semester's music, parent guide DVD, musical growth chart and Music Together in the City Backpack each semester. 

 

MAKE-UP POLICY 

 Two make-ups are allowed for each child and must be taken during the current semester. Make-ups cannot be carried forward to future semesters. Makeups are scheduled using our online Makeup Scheduler under the CLASSES tab. They can be scheduled any time after the second week of classes.  If you cannot attend your scheduled Make-up class, please go back to our online makeup scheduler and CANCEL it to avoid forfeiting a replacement make-up. 

 

REFUND POLICY

No tuition refunds are given after classes begin, although credit toward future classes may be issued in exceptional circumstances. A fee of $30 will be deducted if cancellation occurs prior to the first class. We do not give refunds due to changes in work or nap schedules, or if a child does not want to attend anymore.  However, we do allow you to switch to another class time to accommodate schedule changes. 

 

VISITOR and SIBLING POLICY

Sometimes families in our program would like to bring out of town adult guests (Grandparents, aunts and uncles) to enjoy their class with them.  We can only allow this sometimes, due to the classroom size and the number of families enrolled in the particular class. Please be sure to pre-arrange this with our office at least 24 hours prior to the class.

If you would like an older sibling, a friend's child or relative's child to try out the class your child is in, they must sign up as a DROP IN using our online DROP IN Scheduler under the CLASSES tab.  The Fee is $36 per class.  Even if an older sibling is off from school, please do not send them to your younger child's class without enrolling them for a Drop In seat.  In order  to keep all the classes at a reasonable size for all of our students we must ask that you officially sign up all children visitors as a Drop In student.

Please be aware that in some cases some classes will not be able to accommodate visitors due to class size and/or room size.

 

INCLEMENT WEATHER

Music Together in the City follows NYC Public School policy with regard to weather cancellations. Should public schools close due to inclement weather, our classes will be cancelled as well.  We will notify you by email as well. Semester extensions due to these cancellations will be confirmed via email.

 

SNACKS and TOYS

Please do not bring snacks and toys to class.  They are very distracting and can cause unnecessary conflicts between the children.  Also, many of the buildings where we hold classes do not allow food in the space.

 

PHOTOS and VIDEOS

Please refrain from taking photos and videos during class.  It is very distracting for the children and the adults to be engaged in photo-taking rather than music-making.  Ask your teacher for permission to take photos/videos during the Play Along jam session portion of class or at the end of class.  Whenever a photo or video is taken, please make sure your child is the only child being photographed.  We need to respect the privacy of all the families involved in the program, as many families have requested that their children not be photographed during class.

 

ILLNESS

Please do not bring your child to class sick.  If your child has a fever or contagious symptoms of any kind, please arrange to make-up the class.
